Booking GAS
GAS was built for groups fighting oppression, and prioritises the groups that don't have access to other spaces.
Before you request to book, please read our booking FAQ section below.
1. Check the calendar
Check the calendar and see what else is on during the days you want to book—some events can run simultaneously and others require the whole space. If you require exclusive use of the space, let us know in your booking email.
There may be events that are private and not listed on the calendar and some groups require exclusive use of the space, so we will let you know if this is the case.
Regular events work well so if your group is planning to meet regularly do let us know and we will get you a block booking.
2. Read the GAS agreement
Read the agreement below and discuss amongst the people running your event how you will uphold it what action you will take if something goes wrong at your event.
On entering Glasgow Autonomous Space, to the best of our understanding and ability, we each agree to:
If your event is paid entry, we ask that it is a suggested donation and that no one is turned away for lack of funds, and that it is advertised as such (especially for people in the asylum system and those who are unemployed and low-waged).
Booking Form
GAS receives a huge amount of requests to use the space, many of these requests are not in line with our ethos or the way we run. We’re a small team so help us out by making sure that you have thoroughly read through all of the FAQ section and filled every part of the form, if it’s clear that you haven’t from your request then we may not respond. Please complete the form at least 5 days before the event – if your event is due to happen in the next few days we won’t be able to put it on.
GAS is always free to grassroots groups and groups that cannot afford to pay for spaces to meet and organise. If you want to use GAS because it has a reputation for being a free space but otherwise you would and could pay for another space then either it’s probably not the right space for you, or you should offer us equal or greater payment for use of the space to support the work we do (given that we have no real income). If you’re an organisation/group/individual that wants to put on an event for any form of personal gain, be that financial or cultural, then GAS is not the place for you.
GAS is a space for marginalized peoples. Think about how you can make your event accessible - think about the barriers that may prevent people accessing your event (access needs, how much you charge, providing bus fare/childcare/food, how you publicise it, how open the event appears etc).

How much is GAS to book?
- GAS is free to use for grassroots groups. These groups always have priority in the space.
When is GAS available to book?
- View our public calendar to see what dates are available. There are a variety of spaces available so it is possible to have multiple groups meeting in the space simultaneously. Block bookings are possible. All evening events must be finished by 1am at the absolute latest, including clean up.
What do I need to know if I book GAS?
- GAS is a space where people can run their own self-sufficient events and doesn't offer support for events, although we'll be around to chat logistics via email. When you book GAS you will be provided with the Space Hire Agreement which details all of the information you need to know to run your event.
Will you promote my event?
- If you make us a co-host on facebook we will share your event with our followers, or send us an image with information and we’ll share it on Instagram.
Do you have a projector we can use?
- Yes we have a projector you can use. We have a VGA to VGA cable, but please check with us that this is still the case as the cable might have become misplaced.
Can I use GAS workshops to build a personal project?
- No sorry the workshops are only to be used by groups fighting capitalism or other forms of oppression. If you have a creative project that fits with this aim then you can discuss your ideas with us.
Can I use the print workshop/library/bike tools/garden?
- If you would like to use one of these spaces you will need to contact the collectives that run them.
Evening events
Can GAS host my touring band?
- No sorry GAS does not usually put on gigs. Please do not contact us asking if your band can play at GAS unless it is specifically political, platforms people who are not cis white men and you are up for playing one of our fundraisers. Spitehouse are promoters who put on gigs at GAS who aim to give a platform to under-represented voices in DIY music so you can get in touch with them if you fit their bill.
Can I run a gig/club night at GAS?
- We are not currently supporting any club nights or parties or late night events outside of the core GAS fundraising parties. This is due to our licensing, sustainability of the space for other users and problems with inclusion at these events.
Can I run an evening fundraiser at GAS?
- You can run evening events such as talks, film showing, dinners, acoustic music nights etc. We are no longer hosting external fundraising parties that resemble club/DJ nights but we consider celebrations/fundraisers/dancing events on a case-by-case basis. We ask that a small proportion of the money made at the fundraiser goes to GAS to keep it going (suggested 10-30%). We have a curfew of 1am.
Does GAS have an alcohol license?
- No. All events must be BYOB. We also have two fridges in the downstairs area that you can use to stock up refreshments for the event.
Do you have a sound system we can use?
- No we do not have a sound system for public use. We do have a very simple set of PA speakers. We do not have any mics/mic stands/drums/amps for you to use unfortunately. We cannot provide support for working them.
