Welcome to GAS- Glasgow Autonomous Space, a warehouse space 5 minutes walk from West Street Subway. It hosts groups struggling against capitalism and other forms of oppression. It aims to be a safe space for all and a resource to aid groups in their aims. It is run by those using the space, non-hierarchically and not for profit. It is autonomous – not funded by the state or other institutions whose aims are incompatible with ours.
The space so far includes a wood workshop, kitchen, meeting room, large hall, accessible toilets and a garden. The Rattle Library, an book collection and info shop, is soon to be up and running and there are lots of other projects in the pipeline.
The space is used by a number of groups and we welcome people to get in touch who need access to free space for their work against capitalism and other forms of oppression.
The space was established in 2016 and after a year of collective building works is now up and running- massive thank you to anyone who lent a hand! There is a still lots to be involved with, and we encourage anyone who would like to join us in helping GAS run to email firstname.lastname@example.org
The GAS 'crew' meet bi-weekly at GAS. They keep the space ticking over, organise social events and support the groups using the space. If you would like to join the crew, we can set you up with a buddy who will support you to join in. Just drop us an email.
