GAS Drop-In Evening!
  • Weekly on Tuesday 6pm–9pm
GAS volunteers old and new meet on Tuesdays to clean the space, tidy, paint, and come up with ideas to make it as good as it can be for the groups that use it.

We meet at 6pm to learn each other's names and discuss tasks, then we work until about 8pm when we have dinner together.

Everyone is welcome, and if you are tired or not up to doing jobs the library will be open and you can just relax and add to the nice vibes!

If you need funds to support your travel please let us know and we can cover these. Children are welcome to come along with an adult. Bus fares available.

Rattle Library Open
  • Weekly on Tuesday 6pm–8pm
We are an independent library, built on donations and run by an ever-growing collective of people, non- hierarchically and not for profit. Our name comes from the rattles used in the Glasgow rent strikes, where women used rattles to alert folk to approaching bailiffs. We collect books that are critical of the oppressive forces in our world and that help us to imagine and build something better! From critical theory to science fiction we hope there is something to inspire everyone.

We aim to fill our shelves with things that aren't readily available elsewhere.
Gaps in our collection need to be filled so look out for our call-outs and let us know if there's anything you would like to see more of.

We are a lending library, and you can keep books for one month.
Zines are free to copy on Rattle Library's photocopier.
There's quiet space for reading at GAS, so you can relax and enjoy what's on offer! We are permanently open to new members and ideas, so please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Arabic/English exchange
  • Weekly on Tuesday 6pm–8pm
Come and join us for the Unity* Arabic/English language exchange! It is a conversation class where people can learn Arabic and Arabic speakers can learn/improve their English and get to know each other in a supportive environment—an environment where English is not put on a pedestal and everyone is learning.

The class started as a response to the limited spaces for people to study ESOL at college. Many are on waiting lists for many many months, so we wanted to act together so people could practice their English in the meantime. Anyone of any level can attend.

We also urgently need more English speakers! Come on down! :)
*The Unity Centre has been open for almost 10 years and offers unconditional support and solidarity to asylum seekers and all other migrants
